Going to the dark side

Someone needs to dangle some garlic in my face – if I shrivel, it’s confirmed – I’m a creature of the night.

I only had to do a swim today (which was garbage by the way, because the bod was feeling pretty tuckered out), but because I missed doing a 60 minute run during the week while we were away, I couldn’t not fit it in somewhere this weekend.  So I dragged myself out tonight, against my better judgment.  Actually, I was as keen as mustard to do it, just fatigued.

Anyway, I went out without my head lamp this time, but I was lured… darn it!  I ended up running around Halswell Downs in the dark.  And it was dark!  The only light I had was the wee blinky light on Molly’s collar.  It was a bit of a let down to have to return back into the lights around Westmorland on the way home.

Despite feeling jaded, it was another really, really good run.  My pace was just as quick, if not quicker than I’d normally do, and I was well below my aerobic threshold, in the low 140s.  I decided the next time I do an event, I’ll do it fatigued - it works for me!

Tomorrow I just have 60 minutes of downhill run repeats to do before having Tuesday as a rest day.  Ella has her first training session on Tuesday evening in preparation for her Wellington race, so I won’t be allowed out to play that day anyway!

Back to work tomorrow.  I’ve cleared all my emails by remote, but I’m dreading to see what my desk looks like. :-(

  1. You’re nothing short of a machine girl! What kind of doggy is this Molly by the way? :)

First day back at work is always a wierd one….hope it’s not too bad!

  2. She’s just a stumpy wee Jack Russell, with 3cm long legs who can out-run me any day. How come dogs can do that?

  3. ah don’t you hate that! Reading your posts is inspiring me to just get the heck out there and DO IT :)
